There isn’t any proper water system in the area. The town authorities have neglected the place including the indigenous landowners who are residing on this land. Their responsibilities to provide healthy good water and sanitation system is lacking.
The children have developed skin diseases such as ulcer, scabies, etc. due to this poor water condition.
During rainy season, the water is always muddy and dirty. It’s unhygienic to use.
On the other hand, during dry season, the water level is very low, and the community dig the sand to fetch water.
Very sad encounter during our visitation and program activities in the community.
With the above, we feel that there is a huge need to fund raise to help these vulnerable and less fortunate families and their children.
The costs of funding a borehole is round about PGK12,000. It is equivalent to AUD$6,000. The scope of work is stated in the attached quote. The project should be completed in a day or two and we are planning to start it in late January 2023.
